people_tech is back. And it’s bigger, brighter and better than ever before…

Thursday 1st November saw Team LACE meet bright and early for our annual people_tech event. This is the third time we’ve run people_tech, and this year was our biggest and best yet. With 10 technology providers and 80 people in attendance, the standard of both the discussion and the technology demos was very high.
This year’s theme was empowering technology, and there was a real focus on how AI, bots and MR can augment people’s lives at work in such a way that it elevates them to the next level. The machines aren’t taking our jobs, they’re making them easier.
We kicked off with an opening from our CEO, Aaron Alburey, and our COO, Cathy Acratopulo. We covered everything, from the incredible speed of technological change over the last 60 years; to the pressing skills and talent shortage; and even the sloth or pain au chocolat test… (if you want to know a little bit more email email@example.com and we can share our event slides with you).
Our Tech Safari began with an on-stage demo from Actiview, who showed their Assense mixed-reality recruiting platform to our delegates. After this plenary demo, it was time to divide our guests into smaller groups so that they could intimately get to know the tech they’d previously selected.
Showcasing in our Tech Safari at peopletech18 were: Adepto, Cybsafe, Degreed, Emoquo, Enterprise Alumni, Jenna AI, PeopleFirst, and Sidekick Health.
Interspersed with our Tech Safari demos, we also introduced (as a people_tech first) discussion groups. These allowed our guests to share knowledge and experience around some key HR issues, themed around two broad ideas: HR capabilities and HR technologies. The groups were an outstanding source of rich and valuable data, and you can see some of the answers to these questions in our people_tech infographics.
We followed this with a second plenary demo, this time from AppLearn, who showcased their ADOPT platform and gave our delegates some insight on common tech adoption issues.
We rounded the evening off with some drinks and networking, which gave everyone a chance to meet with tech partners they hadn’t yet spoken to, discuss some other common HR problems with like-minded attendees, and to speak with our team about any HR Transformation problems they were encountering.
Overall it was a hugely successful day, with a wide variety of tech on show, and some really insightful and engaging conversations happening.
