Skills and ladders: Interactive skills strategy workshop

The market is alive with discussion about becoming skills-powered, with plenty of conflicting advice and a tendency to overpromise on how straightforward it can be. However, there are many ‘snakes’ (challenges) that prevent organisations from fully embracing this journey. But fear not, for every snake, there’s a ‘ladder’ (an enabler) to help you climb higher.

Join us for an interactive workshop where we’ll tackle the barriers to a skills-powered organisation and show you how to navigate your way to success. Whether you’re facing data challenges, cultural resistance, or struggling to get executive buy-in, we’ll help you unpack these issues and provide practical solutions to smooth your journey.

What do you mean by interactive workshop?

Forget what you know about work events, this won’t be a ‘sitting in a quiet room listening event’. We believe people get the most of events that they can actually enjoy, so this play on snakes and ladders aims to do just that.

Attendees will be split into small groups and rotate around our playing board to each of our expert-led sessions. Each hands-on session will be short and sweet (around 20 minutes) with practical takeaways.

We will end the event with a lively panel discussion and drinks reception to recap the learnings from the day and to answer any outstanding questions from our valued players.

The event will start at 2:30pm and workshops will end at around 5pm, giving participants an opportunity to network and browse our skills technology safari before a panel discussion with our experts. We understand that half a day is a commitment, but we hope to have meeting rooms available so should you need just ask.

The snakes:

The ladders:

  • Data chaos and no common skills language
  • Lack of executive buy-in
  • Cultural resistance and workforce engagement
  • High cost, time investment, and complexity
  • Creating a unified skills taxonomy
  • Building a strong business case for executives
  • Effective change management and workforce engagement strategies
  • Tech enablers that streamline skills processes

What’s in it for you?

Aimed at senior HR & talent professionals, this workshop will equip you with the tools and insights to make informed decisions about your skills strategy. You’ll leave with:

  • A value case template to justify investment in skills initiatives.
  • A showcase of enabling technology to streamline your approach.
  • A clear framework to decide which skills approaches are best suited to your organisation.

Why attend?

This workshop isn’t just about theory – it’s about equipping you with real-world solutions that you can implement straight away.
