In today’s rapidly evolving business landscape, company culture plays a pivotal role in driving sustainable performance. This was the central theme of a recent episode of the HR on the Offensive podcast, Chris spoke with Niall Cluley, Managing Director at Dragonfish UK to discuss their latest research on cultural alignment and its impact on organisational success.
Dragonfish’s latest report, How Culture Drives Sustainable Performance in the New Era of Transformation contains insights from a robust study involving over 6,000 employees across 27 sectors. The research revealed that companies with high cultural alignment significantly outperform those with weak alignment—by a staggering 182%. The findings emphasised the need for businesses to integrate their people, brand, and customer experience to create a high-performing culture.
While employee engagement remains a foundational element, Dragonfish’s research found that engagement alone isn’t enough to drive exceptional performance. Instead, successful companies foster a deep connection between their workforce, the organisation’s brand values, and customer expectations. This alignment ensures that employees are not just satisfied but are also purpose-driven, and able to deliver strong business outcomes.
The report identified six cultural “signatures” of high-performing organisations, these include;
- Vision, purpose and values alignment – these form the foundations for culture.
- Customer centricity – ensuring the customer is at the heart of how your organisation thinks, acts and makes decisions.
- Customer connection – top-performing companies ensure that employees feel a direct. connection to the customer experience
- Personal growth and fulfilment – organisations with clear career paths and goals drive higher engagement and performance.
- Meaningful work and impact – companies that connect employee efforts to business goals and social impact boost motivation and productivity.
- Trust and valued – fostering a high-trust environment where employees feel truly valued.
The report also underlines the important role of leadership in achieving to cultural alignment. Executives set the vision, but mid-level managers bring it to life. With only 40% of employees confident in their company’s goals, businesses have a major opportunity to improve clarity and connect work to both personal growth and long-term strategy.
Listen now to learn how your business can unlock its full potential and drive long-term success through cultural alignment.
