LACE Partners: Celebrating 10 years

In this special episode of HR on the Offensive podcast, Chris sits down with our Co-Founders, Aaron Alburey and Cathy Acratopulo, to reflect on 10 incredible years. Together, they look back on LACE’s journey from an ambitious vision in 2014 to a leading consultancy with a team of nearly 100, a trusted network of associates, and long-lasting client partnerships across industries.

Aaron and Cathy share memorable moments, from early years that were all about laying strong foundations to the milestones along the way.

I remember Aaron’s phone call very, very well. I’d taken a few years out with the family, so it was very well timed as a call. And I also remember his notebook because I remember thinking, ‘Aaron’s thought about this a lot. He’s even got a logo and he knows what colour he wants it to be. And he’s got a company name.’

Cathy Acratopulo

They recount the challenges they have faced during LACE’s 10 fundamentally different years. A standout example: the pandemic, when team well-being and client support came first—weekly all-hands meetings and a stronger listening culture were some of the enduring practices born from that time.

We’re a people business, right? We only exist because of the team we’ve got and the clients we work with. … It’s the impact we’ve had on the lives of the people who have worked with us… that’s probably the thing that I never thought about when I wrote those notebooks.

Aaron Alburey

Today, LACE’s legacy includes a growing community of alumni, clients, and partners. As they look forward, Aaron and Cathy share their hopes for the future, aiming for continued growth while staying true to LACE’s core values: passion, innovation, and care.

Tune in for insights, laughs, and a look ahead:
