Challenges
- The UK was one of the first countries where SuccessFactors EC was implemented, and at a rapid pace. This was done knowing that EC was not ideally built for the client. The client questioned whether the challenges with payroll were due to the current interface/technology. The technology teams were pushing an upgrade to a new interface, however, there were process and data issues which needed to be fixed first.
- The rules and processes for payroll were very complex, leading to a variety of issues
- No standard operating model or approach and a lack of clarity over roles and responsibilities.
How LACE helped
In our approach we:
- Gathered documentation and spoke with the leadership team, to gain an initial understanding around the scope of the payroll challenges.
- Conducted discovery interviews with key stakeholders including the UK payroll, IT, Shared Services, Data Management and Finance teams.
- Conducted follow up interviews with the UK payroll and IT teams.
- Aligned with leadership team in terms of planning considerations for other projects

Provided a summary of the issues, which were categorised in terms of technology, people, process, and Data. Also included the severity, and the risk associated with each issue.
Recommendations
Provided prioritised recommendations, splitting the issues into 5 themes, with the idea that the themes would become workstreams.
Transformation roadmap
Provided a high-level transformation roadmap including key milestones and deliverables.
