Currently a third of people in the UK workforce are currently not working which is looking to grow as the furlough scheme comes to an end. The last recession saw unemployment at 8.5% but this could reach 12-13%. This will be a new phenomenon for lots of people in HR and talent management. This could see an impact in areas such as retention, talent attraction, brand, hybrid teams and management.
Chris is joined by Kevin Green, CEO of What’s Next Consultancy and bestselling author of Competitive People Strategy, to discuss what has changed in the UK talent management space since the start of the pandemic. One topic they discuss is the possible expansion of talent pools as remote working has allowed people to work from anywhere.
In his book Kevin examines the roles of effective talent attraction and management, and how to lead change and transformation. A core theme of the book is the importance of moving HR from a support function to becoming a creator of value and driver of business success. Additionally, the book can be used as a comprehensive roadmap to show how businesses can connect their human potential to their bottom line, and provide step-by-step guidance on how to create, test and measure a differentiated people strategy. The book also explores the core building blocks of leadership and organizational culture, as well as employee experience and engagement.
