What key insights emerged from People Analytics World 2024?

In this episode of the HR on the Offensive podcast, Chris is joined by people analytics experts and LACErs Nancy Allen and Jo Schwabl as they reflect on the People Analytics World 2024 event held in April, discussing key topics and insights from the conference.

What is the people analytics supply chain?

Richard Rosenau’s keynote defines the concept of the people analytics supply chain, which connects analytics, data, technology, operations, people, and business strategy. This concept underscores how disruptions in any part of the chain can impact overall business outcomes. Rosenau also mentioned integrating people analytics with other HR functions like talent intelligence and strategic workforce planning (SWP), emphasising the common trend of combined leadership roles in HR.

HR data is business data

Jo advocates for stronger partnerships between HR and other business functions like finance and sales. She emphasises the need for better documentation of competencies and skills, especially for employees who have been in the organisation for a long time. Jo reflects on a session by Ernst Eckhart from the International Labour Organisation, which focused on the challenges of documenting and analysing skills, particularly given the evolving nature of job roles and competencies.

What role can AI play in people analytics?

Nancy notes a panel discussion at the conference that took a pragmatic approach to AI, emphasising the need for a clear strategy and clean data. AI’s effectiveness is contingent on the quality of the input data, reinforcing the importance of data integrity.
